Creating an eSafety Message via Apple Classroom

After joining the classroom created by the teachers device using Apple Classroom app, students were guided to create an eSafety Online digital product.

Apple Classroom enables student devices to be navigated to specific apps, websites, iBooks and iTunes U courses.

A Keynote and Book Creator template files was distributed to students to provide them the option with which to create their Digital Product.

In keeping with the eSafety theme, Morfo app enables avatars to be used to communicate key messages with out any student faces being visible.
The Year 4 classes experienced their first lesson with Apple Classroom recently. After the class was created by the their teachers device with Apple Classroom app (student devices don't require it) the students enrolled their device in the class with the 4 digit code specific to the class. Then all the students were guided through creating an eSafety product that would teach others about how to staff safe online without displaying any pictures of students, as this is a key eSafety strategy itself. Tools in Apple Classroom enable the teachers device to guide students through their creations with a range of actions by: Opening an app on their iPad, navigating their iPad to a website, an iBook chapter or an iTunes U course, distributing files to students, viewing students screens, locking/muting students devices for quick check-in, allowing students to hand in work by sharing it to the teachers device and grouping students devices into desired groupings. Students were guided through how to use openclipart.org, pixabay.com and Google Advanced search to search for a generic avatar to represent themselves in their product and research key eSafety messages. Student devices were then directed to Morfo app to import and set up their avatar and record their key messages. Next session students will import their message videos from Morfo to their Book Creator eBooks or Keynote presentations and focus on Design Thinking elements to refine their products and submit to their teachers via Classroom. Well done Year 4s!
